Kidney Stone Treatment without Surgery

Stone can occur in any part of our body, but if it is in the kidney then the result can be extreme pain. Yes! The problem intensifies if, the stone passes from the kidney to the urethra or the urinary tract. Under such condition, if it blocks the urinary tract, the patient cannot pee and this results in extreme pain and sometimes bleeding.

Earlier when other methods were not discovered, only open surgery was performed in order to treat any kind of stones in the body. The method was successful most of the times. But, it took a longer time for the patient to recover and resume his normal life post-surgery. In cases where the size of the kidney stone is relatively large, any of the following kidney stone surgery Delhi methods can be opted to treat the same:

  • Shockwave Lithotripsy: This method involves crushing the stones inside the kidney via shockwaves. The crushed pieces then pass through the urinary tract. A pipe is attached to the urinary tract so that the crushed pieces can easily pass and the patient does not suffer any kind of pain.
  • Ureteroscopy: This process is used to treat the stones in the kidney and the ureter. Under this process, the doctor inserts a thin flexible instrument via urethra to the bladder, in order to detect the stones. The stone pieces are then collected in a small basket attached to one of the ends of the instrument.
  • Percutaneous Nephrolithotomy: In cases where the kidney stone is very large in size and lithotripsy cannot be used to treat it, nephrolithotomy is used. Under this process, a high frequency wave is used to first break the kidney stone into relatively smaller pieces. A PCNL is used in order to detect the stone and find its right location. Also, in this process, a small incision is made at your back in order to insert the PCNL. Don’t worry the incision is very small and one recovers very soon.
